Successful Kyllikki Raid on Sunday
We joined The Order’s Kyllikki Raid on Friday night and it was a huge success. Zorik even brought home a trophy. Many thanks to The Order, who ran the raid flawlessly. A real pleasure.

We’ve reached an armistice / non-agression treaty with the Amazons. We’ve had a number of good interactions with them and they are similar to us in a number of ways so we’ve reached a political understanding (IC) and developed a real friendship (IC and OCC) with them. So remember, as Marg Simpson would say, be nice to your sister(s). Or the sisters in this case.

The new patch arrives today and it is massive in terms of scope… the release notes are seven posts long. (Details can be found here.) With the game under new management there is a new philosophy behind putting out patches so hopefully they won’t be just putting ‘lipstick on a pig’ again. The new PvP system is fully implemented and I believe combat has been redesigned to make it more streamlined and avoid DPS spikes for melee characters. (I’m not sure if it has been released in this patch though.) Lag spikes too are supposed to be a thing of the past. With luck AoC will have finally turned a corner though only time will tell.

Before the last patch (preliminary PvP / gem nerf patch) most of the Ignoble Order’s AoC members became disillusioned with how FunCom has handled the initial release of AoC and subsequent problems that arose with properly balancing the game at high levels. As a consequence of this they decided to leave the game in protest. This left only four ’senior’ IO members left to carry on. But now we seem to have figured out a direction to take the guild and are seeing some very positive signs. Our tier II city is nearing completion (only the wall sections remain) and we have found a number of new members with significant AoC experience that fit well into the vision of the guild. There is still a lot to do but the future of the IO in AoC looks much more promising then even a couple of weeks ago. That said if you have any comments or ideas on how the IO should proceed or that might help strengthen our place on RP Cimmeria please let the ‘remnant leadership’ (Thealen, Tsargoth or Zorik) know. Thanks,

Well, it’s been a few interesting weeks since I last posted here, and the three main highlights have been Funcom banning MOST of the exploiters, the bank has been fixed, only to get broken again by not being able to take out what you put in, and finally, by actually having some RP happening on the RP server. Davaran, Barnibus, and myself went out to the lich ruins in the Kopshef (sp?) providence, and RP’d out trying to take people’s money and food. We had some nice RP happen, and everyone was good sports about it.
.
On the flip side, while watching a fight between 3 level 20 somethings, I noticed some kid hopping about while swinging at his foe. It was like watching a rabid kangaroo with a claymore. So I smacked him, and killed him. He then brings back a level 30 something Bear Shaman friend to watch his back. He starts hopping around some more, and I smack him again. Only this time, the Bear Shaman starts healing him. So now, I’m fighting Hoppy McHopper from Klan Kangaroo, and his Bear Shaman butt buddy. I eventually white damaged him to death (I couldn’t get a combo off to save my life) and I finished off the running with his bear tail between his legs, Bear Shaman. The screenshot is of the conversation that followed:

I tell you, the next thought that crossed my mind was either this was a gulible 18+ year old, or mommy bought this kid the game. I should have scammed him for some money, but, I don’t want to be known to be “that guy” that hangs around the mentally challenged, but is secretly stealing their pudding.

Just like the title says, it’s been good so far, leveling up with Desty by my side. It’s amazing to watch battles unfold, and even the occasional clown that comes up and tries to catch Desty off guard, with me waiting in the shadows. So far, we haven’t been beaten down yet, and when we have, we’ve gotton our revenge fairly soon afterwards.
The guild is alive and well, with 90% of the core group expected at launch showing up. This is wonderful news, as it will allow the majority of us to get a good head start on leveling up with guildmates.
Look for some announcements to be made in the forums in the next few days regarding guild policies, KOS lists, etc.

(Pardon the lack of paragraphs. This software version has a bug in it)
Well, so far, the early access has been…interesting, to say the least. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when the servers were still down 30 minutes after the EA was supposed to begin, but I assured myself it was just a slight problem, and they’d have them up soon. Soon being 4 and a half hours later. However, I didn’t fret too much, and said to myself that if this is the worst thing that can happen at an MMO launch, then we got lucky.
I was wrong however…
Upon starting the game up, and getting to the server select screen, I noticed something that made my stomach overturn. Funcom, in all their wisdom, neglected to put RP in front of the PvP for the “Official” RP server, Cimmeria. I don’t even have to mention what happened after that, I’m sure most of you could already imagine.
However, it’s not so bad, to be honest. Sure, there isn’t much RP going around, but then again, most clans and players are busy fighting the hordes of griefers, and putting “k3wld00d” guilds on their KOS (Kill On Sight) lists. Desty (Bighead) and myself have been busy kicking ass and taking names. We are currently close enough to level 30 to taste it. You’d be surprised how many fools will attack a Tempest of Set when they think he’s alone, only to get their asses handed to them when Desty turns around and I pop out of stealth. Whether it’s UO, DAoC, one thing is for sure…..
Some things never change.
